Well Matty G’s White Team is not mucking around, proving they are a force to be reckoned with this season. It was great to see everyone getting behind their team, giving it their all and getting into the great club spirit we have at Carlile.
Session 1 saw the big boys and girls up first putting on a show in the 50 FR, splash and dash for the younger swimmers. Hopefully they picked up some tips. Both the men’s and women’s races where hotly contested, with Leon Macalister (white) and Mia Rolfe (white) taking out the titles.
The rest of the meet was a white wash with the white team taking out top spot in 15 of the 32 events. That is an amazing effort. Well done! It was also great to see many swimmers qualifying for Metro and State.
Session 2 was held on a warm Northern Beaches afternoon, the BBQ was pumping and I managed to get my hands on two of the famous Carlile chicken rolls, a must try if you haven’t..….Back to the racing, this time it was reversed with the young guns up first. We have some good swimmers coming up and I’m keen to see what will happen in the future. The White team members put in another dominant performance however Orange and Blue teams fought back well to halt the white team advancing their point score.
Following the individual events, attention turned to the double points 9-12 yrs relay. It would be down to our youngest swimmers to secure victory for their team. With last minute changes up to the Starters gun it was anyone’s race. To my delight the blue boys pulled ahead with a commanding lead finishing ahead of White (2nd) and Orange (3rd). In the girls relay also, it looked like Blue was going to win, but fast finishing Orange and White had other plans. There was a tie for 1st place, with the Blue Girls closely behind finishing 3rd.
White team leads the series, with the Orange team in striking distance. Session 3 is not to be missed, with two relays and a team championship title on offer. Also, there are the best dressed awards and team spirit points, so get behind you team for a fun night of racing.
Once again we thank the parents for their support of this great club to help run the meets and the swimmers who make this the best club around.
Go Carlile!
